Pitts Paintings

These life-size oil paitings were created by Diane Overcash, the owner and operator of "Original Art" in Concord, North Carolina.

A picture of Edwin "Alabama" Pitts in an Albany, N.Y. 1935 baseball uniform (after he was released from Sing Song Prison) was used as a basis. Diane put Pitts in a 1936 Charlotte Hornets (Outlaw Carolina League) uniform where he played in 1936.

Pitts was the most widely known minor league baseball player of the 1930's because of the controversy about organized professional baseball (O.B.), initially, not letting him play because he was a felon out of Sing Song Prison.
